The Official Rating Lists

The Malta Chess Federation is currently calculating and publishing ratings for two type of chess tournaments - the Rapid Play (15 minutes per player), and the Standard Play (time greater or equal to 2 hrs per player). In this section both rating lists can be found, together with the international ratings of the Maltese players as published by FIDE.

The Rapid Play rating list is published after each tournament being held, while the Standard Play rating list is published every three months.

In that regards the Standard Play Ratings there are three rating lists. One with the active players, another with the inactive, and another one that includes all chess players, both active and inactive ones, together with provisional ratings. Active players are defined as those players who have played in a rated tournament in the past 2 years. A provisional rating is an unofficial rating given to a player before he has played enough games to be given an official rating. Currently a player has to play 10 rated games before he is given an official rating.
