Chess Leagues 1996

The Chess Leagues became one of the most successful yearly tournaments. It was first set up as an idea in 1994 and first held in 1995 by Peter Sammut Briffa and Ron Sammut. 45 players took part in 1995 thus ensuring a total of 5 divisions. Now in its second year, there are still 5 divisions and the number of players increased to 49 players.
