The Candidates tournament is the second phase of the Malta Chess 
Championship cycle.  The top six players of the Preliminaries
join players rated over 1850 together with last year's Championship
players (excluding the Malta champion and runner-up).  The top four 
players will qualify for the last phase which will decide who will
be this year's Malta champion.
